GardenBank x Odaqua Shoreline Cleanup - april 2024

On a beautiful April day, the GardenBank team, in collaboration with volunteers from Odaqua, grabbed their gloves and buckets. The team headed to Sunset Beach where they picked up tons of litter until the shoreline was as clear as the translucent waters.

VSB Sustainability Conference - April 2023

The Gardenbank team was at the VSB Sustainability Conference to get youth thinking about ways to be sustainable and to promote our initiatives! We were glad to be apart of an amazing event featuring so many students passionate about environmental justice!

In March 2023, Gardenbank collaborated with Project Hastings to make and distribute over 500 sandwiches, bottles of water, and other food items to individuals affected by homelessness around Pigeon Park in the Downtown Eastside.

sustainable challenge week

Care package run

During March, Gardenbank held a week-long Spring Environmental Challenge to increase environmental awareness. The challenges ranged from Meatless Monday to Fuel-efficient Friday. Prizes included tote bags and reusable straws!

During December 2021, Gardenbank hosted a care package delivery in downtown Vancouver. The packages included items such as socks and granola bars. We are beyond grateful to be able to help our community during these colder months.

SERVING SANDWICHES AT OPPENHEIMER PARK

On October 25, we served more than 100 sandwiches to the homeless residents of Oppenheimer Park in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side. Given that the residents are often unable to choose what they eat, we made sandwiches to introduce variety and essential nutrients to their bodies.

This was an eye-opening experience and we are honoured to have met some incredible people. GardenBank will continue to conduct outreach projects of a similar vein and encourages those interested to join us in spreading our help.

Plant Donations

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, long-term care homes around the Lower Mainland were hit the hardest. We decided to donate mini-succulents along with hand-written cards containing messages of hope to show the seniors that we are in this together!

On May 15, we donated hand cards and indoor plants to the 108 residents of Fleetwood Place Care Facility in Surrey, BC.

On May 18, our team donated cards and succulents to the residents of Foyer Maillard Senior Home in Coquitlam, BC.

Canned Food Drives

When the COVID-19 pandemic began, local food banks experienced significant decline in donations. However, many families heavily rely on them as a source of food, so our team stepped in and collected non-perishable food items within their own neighbourhoods with a unique method that requires zero physical contact. Overall, we donated over 1000 lbs of non-perishable food items for food banks around the Lower Mainland.
